What's the difference between Gold Plated & Gold Vermeil?Updated 13 days ago
We get it, choosing is hard especially when it comes to jewellery materials. The difference is all about durability, the thickness of real gold and its base metal.
Gold Vermeil:
Base Metal: Always sterling silver (92.5% silver)
Gold Layer: At least 2.5 microns thick of real gold (typically 10K or higher)
Durability: More durable than standard gold-plated pieces
Skin Sensitivity: Hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive skin
Gold Plated:
Base Metal: Can be any metal, such as brass or copper
Gold Layer: Typically much thinner, often less than 0.5 microns
Durability: Wears off more easily with regular use
