Why has my jewellery changed colour?

What is plating wear?
Plating wear occurs when the outer plated layer of jewellery gradually wears away through regular use, which may reveal the base metal beneath.

Factors that may accelerate plating wear include:

- Contact with perfumes, lotions and cosmetics
- Friction from skin, clothing or other jewellery
- Regular daily wear over extended periods
With proper care, the appearance of plated jewellery can be maintained for longer. We recommend storing jewellery in a dry place, avoiding direct contact with beauty products and removing jewellery before showering, swimming or exercising where possible.
