Piercing AftercareUpdated 18 days ago

Sleep Smart
Don’t sleep on your piercing — it can cause excess swelling, irritation and wonky angles. Try a piercing pillow!

Don't Freak Out
Bleeding, swelling, bruising, crusties and soreness are all normal. Unsure? Just shout — we’ve got you.

Keep It Clean
Saline spray twice a day + gently remove crusties. Less is more — over-cleaning causes issues too!

Keep It Dry
Moisture = trouble. After cleaning or showering, dry with a hairdryer on a cold setting.

Downsize
After 4 weeks, if there’s lots of wiggle room, come back for a shorter bar — it helps prevent irritation and angle migration.

Check Your Jewellery
Once a week, check it’s secure (clean hands only!). Natural movement, moisture etc can loosen your jewellery over time, a quick check helps avoiding losing your jewellery.

No Snags
Watch out for towels, hair, scarves etc — they love to catch on piercings!

What To Avoid
No swimming, baths, sea or lakes for at least 2 weeks. Also avoid dirty environments (yes, gardening counts!).

The Big NOs
Don’t twist, touch unnecessarily, change jewellery early, or use anything except saline to clean it with.

Healing Times
Healing times may vary. Generally, lobes need 3-4 months and all other placements need 6-12months. Even if it looks healed, healing happens outside in. Pop in for us to take a look before changing jewellery.

*Please note: Piercing is a body modification procedure and, as with any piercing, there is an inherent risk of infection or other complications. While Jewells follows strict hygiene, sterilisation and aftercare procedures to minimise these risks, we cannot accept liability for issues that may arise following your piercing. This is outlined in our Piercing Consent Form, which must be reviewed and signed prior to your piercing.
